Struggling

I am really struggling right now. Every meal is an effort not to overeat. I am successful about 80% of the time which is obviously not good enough for weightloss. For awhile I was maintaining, but now I have actually gained- I'm at 185.8 lbs.

I'm very upset and very down trodden. I'm relying on food again for comfort. I forgot my office badge and train pass this morning. I had to buy a one way ticket on the train for $15. Then, I fell going up the stairs on the subway- majorly embarrassing. I found myself at Starbucks this morning getting a non-fat latte for comfort. Yes, it was non-fat, but using food as comfort is a red flag for me- that's how I found myself so overweight to begin with.

I've been exercising 3 days a week with 40 mins of elliptical, light weight lifting and ab work. Results are no where to be found. I guess my results are wherever my motivation and effort are.

It's going to be ok! You're now aware that you're struggling, and you know you're likely to turn to food, so you can try extra hard to keep a conscious effor not to! It's a really hard time of the year for everyone, so I know personally I'm just trying to maintain, and trying to just get in a few workouts a week. You can do it! It's all in your head, stay strong :)

It is not how long you ride the mechanical bull. It is being in the bar, knowing you are going to eventually ride it and destroy it.

Everyone struggles. Few are accountable for it. you are accountable!

We talked in my meeting last night about lapses, relapses & collapses. Your comfort latte was a lapse. Your struggle to overeat is a relapse. But you are seeing those red flags and learning from it. You are not giving up & you won't let it get to "collapse" phase.
Don't get too upset over this, especially this time of year--just keep it up where you can and once you find that spark of motivation again, you'll be back on track in no time.

The holidays are a helluva tough time to be in the weight-loss business. Simply earning a draw on weigh-ins should be considered a huge success.

What Tony said: everyone struggles. You've come much too far to give it back at this point. Hang in there and stay strong.
